Cardiology Services is a fast growing service at The HealthCare PolyClinic. We provide the latest in echocardiography and stress testing. Other cardiac services include ECG, ambulatory monitoring and stress testing. We provide programs associated with cardiac services including cardiac rehab, anti-coagulation services, and heart health education classes throughout the year
The HealthCare PolyClinic has the latest in echocardiography technology. An echocardiogram often referred to as “cardiac echo” or simply an “echo” is a sonogram of the heart or an ultrasound of the heart. The procedure is painless way for us to have a look at the structure and function of your heart including an accurate assessment of blood flowing through the heart. The hospital has fully qualified, experienced Echocardiology Technologists who perform these exams using the latest equipment available, the Philips iE33 xMatrix echocardiography system.
- Pacemaker test
- Stress echo test
- Echocardiography of heart muscle, size and strength
Doctors can use echos to:
- Diagnose heart problems
- Guide or determine next steps for treatment
- Monitor changes and improvements
- Determine the need for more tests.
The biggest advantage to echocardiography is that it is non-invasive and painless.
The addition of this new equipment provides our healthcare providers with 24 hours access to this needed technology. The equipment was made possible through a gift from one of our community members for whom we are deeply grateful.
An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is the cornerstone of diagnosing any heart problem. This test checks for problems with the electrical activity of the heart. In Both Jefferson Healthcare Hospital and offices, EKGs are immediately viewable through our health record system, EPIC, for viewing.
Abnormal or skipped beats (arrhythmias) are commonly felt throughout life. Diagnosing and recording the heart rhythm abnormality is difficult to catch. Jefferson Healthcare is the only hospital on the north Olympic Peninsula utilizing a mobile, cardiac, outpatient telemetry system that monitors instant, beat-to-beat analysis with auto detection and rhythm. This enables a full assessment and better diagnosis by providers.
Stress ECG with Treadmill Belt
An exercise electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for changes in your heart while you exercise. Sometime EKG abnormalities can be seen only during exercise or while symptoms are present. this test is sometimes called a “stress test” or “treadmill test”. during an exercise EKG, walking on a motor driving treadmill is required. Combining imaging such as an echo and nuclear may also occur for better assessment and diagnosis.
Cardiac Rehab services are designed to help heart patients with diagnoses such as heart attack, valve repair or replacement, stents, by-pass surgery, heart failure or angina, to recover and return to full and productive lives and reduce the risk of reoccurrence. The program includes monitored exercise, personalized education and assessments on progress.
To help prevent excess blood clotting, Warfarin is commonly prescribed for patients with a variety of heart conditions. Diet, illness and other medications can affect the body’s response to the drug, so regular monitoring through blood testing is necessary. Adjustments procedure includes a finger stick to draw blood and test levels. Many people need medications adjustments and benefit from the comprehensive services .
